Significant Weather Event Declaration - February 17, 2025
As of 1:30PM, February 17, 2025, The Municipality of South Huron has declared a Significant Weather Event for all municipal roads due to storm conditions, high winds, and drifting snow. This declaration is made under O Reg 239/2.
This declaration suspends the standard timelines required for municipalities to meet their winter maintenance objectives until the municipality declares the significant weather event has ended. Once a significant weather event has ended, standard timelines for winter maintenance activities will begin again.
The intent of a declaration is to notify the public that due to the current weather conditions, caution is to be exercised when travelling on municipal streets and sidewalks, and that it may take longer than usual to restore them to the normal condition.
Special Reminders:
- If able, residents are encouraged to clear nearby fire hydrants of accumulating snow
- Homeowners are advised to ensure that home heating exhaust vents are clear of accumulating snow
- DO NOT park on roadways as this prevents snow clearing
We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as our staff work to keep roadways open and our community safe.
