Municipal payment options during the postal strike

As of Friday, November 15, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) went on strike, notifying customers to expect significant delays due to strike activities, with no new items being accepted until the strike is over.

The Municipality of South Huron is advising our customers that delivery of water sewer bills, taxes, and other invoices or payments mailed to us could be impacted by this postal strike. Please note that customers are still responsible for paying bills on time and that late charges will apply if payments are not received on time. South Huron offers many convenient options for making payments, receiving documents and submitting invoices. Please select one of the service areas below to explore available options.

Exeter utility bills, due November 29, are known to be delayed due to the ongoing Canada Post labour disruption. Account balances are available by calling our office directly at 519-235-0310. Please remember that you are responsible to ensure your account is paid on time. Late payment fees will continue to apply.

Register for paperless eBilling to avoid future mail service disruptions.

Payment options – most financial institutions will accept payments online, through telephone banking or at local branches. Payments can also be made in person, via debit, cheque or cash, at Town Hall between 8:30am and 4:30pm. Outside of regular business hours, cheques and remittance stubs, in a sealed envelope, can be placed in the after hours drop box to the left of the main entrance of Town Hall, 322 Main St S. Please ensure that you write your utility account number on the cheque memo line if no remittance stub is available. For all other payment options, or to sign up for pre-authorized payments, please visit our South Huron - Utilities page.

For those who relied on Canada Post to send payment for their November 15 tax installment, please contact our office at 519-235-0310 to confirm whether your payment was received. Please remember that you are responsible to ensure your account is paid on time. Late payment fees will continue to apply.

For supplemental tax bills due on November 30 and December 15, please use one of our alternate payment methods (online, in person, at bank) offered. Details can be found on our Payment Options page
