As a result of annual seasonal recruitment, our Community Services Department is seeking to fill the roles of Seasonal Labourer – Summer Operations. Under the direction of the Foreperson of Community Services, this position is responsible for providing facility maintenance on municipal property and facilities. Responsible for all areas of municipal facilities including arenas, community halls, open spaces, parks and trails, playing fields, municipal cemeteries and Port Blake Day park. Provides assistance to the public in a friendly and professional manner while promoting the health and safety of colleagues and the public.
This position is a seasonal position that provides a great opportunity for high school and post-secondary students on their summer break.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional that has the following:
- Previous exposure to buildings, parks, playfields and cemetery operations and/or maintenance is considered an asset
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to deal with the public with diplomacy and tact
- Ability to adhere to Municipal policies and procedures required to effectively deliver programs and services
- Effective inter-personal, management, and written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organization skills to effectively complete/deliver and prioritize assigned tasks and responsibilities within established timelines.
- Works effectively as a member of a team
- Ability to follow through with assigned tasks, to ask questions and ensure that the tasks are completed in an effective, timely and efficient manner, based on policy and Supervisory direction.

Working Conditions
Work involves a substantial amount of heavy lifting upwards of 40 lbs., carrying, crawling and climbing. Operations are conducted primarily outdoors and continue in all weather. A high degree of mental alertness is required to ensure the safety of self and others as working with equipment, vehicles, unpredictable traffic conditions, and tools is required. A flexible schedule is required to account for operational coverage outside of core hours, including weekends, overtime or call-in shifts.
