South Huron recognizes the importance of seniors and the value they contribute to our community.  For more information on senior programming, please refer to the Recreation brochure.

The County of Huron, in cooperation with the Province of Ontario, operates two Not-For Profit Municipal Long Term Care homes located in Clinton and Brussels.  Residents are provided with support for all of their individual care needs through a team approach, including family, health professionals and the local community.

ONE CARE Home & Community Support Services provides programs to help people live in their own homes and communities. ONE CARE is a registered, not-for-profit charity that supports older adults and people with health challenges through a variety of services including – Meals on Wheels, Transportation, Home Help, Personal Care, Adult Day Programs, Respite, Exercise, Foot Care and others. ONE CARE has been serving residents in Huron and Perth Counties for more than 40 years.

Queensway Nursing and Retirement Home

Queensway Residence offers a warm cozy environment for seniors needing a break from the winter!  Call and ask about their unique Quick Response Program (QRP) which allows seniors to contact staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to arrange immediate accommodation for community seniors.  Whether the circumstances arise from a need of a warm sheltered environment during a deep freeze, a caregiver emergency, unexpected illness or a home emergency due to a fire or flood, QRP is available for local seniors.  There is a choice of semi private or private accommodation, and a special daily rate for up to two weeks to give guests and their families an opportunity to make financial arrangements. 

QRP also offers accommodation for respite, convalescent care and/or short term shelter due to a home emergency, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Exeter and Grand Bend Adult Day Centres invite people in Huron and North Lambton Counties who are aging, facing physical challenges, or experiencing chronic illness or conditions such as Alzheimer Disease to attend the Day Centre on a regular basis. Caregivers may consider the respite and peace of mind they can experience by having a family member attend a program suited to his or her needs."
